“Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal, but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal.” Matthew 6:19-20
“For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.”

The spring “yellows” are starting to pop out!
April is strawberry time. This social distancing thing has even affected how you pick up berries from the local farm, but it hasn’t taken away from the sweet taste once you get them home!
This iris, along with the one in the following pic, are special because they are found in garden areas of friends and neighbors who are no longer with us. Hands once planted and nurtured them and now each year these blooms return as a tribute to their gardener!
Many things do live on after we are gone. A fact and a good lesson we can learn from something as simple as a spring iris!
Every Princess needs a crown and EM’s mommy was quick to provide one. The band and jewels were obtained locally…
Our hiking and running trail gave us a surprise last week when we rounded a curve and found we needed a canoe or kayak to continue! Last Sundays storms dropped a lot of rain.
Beavers naturally like this area and typically build a dam just upstream from here to provide the small pond they love. They are currently able to take a break from their work (like a lot of people right now) as their dam is even under water.
…red roses too.
I see them bloom for me and you, and I think to myself what a wonderful world.”
-Bob Thiele
Thanks to Appalachian Digital Media for this amazing rose!

Good morning Pam! This is a delightful morning devotional. EM’s crown fits her perfectly and reminds me of clover chains of very long ago that we made in grade school. Her smile just melts your heart. I think of my Mom every time I see irises blooming. She had dozens and loved them. It’s comforting to know our gardens keep giving even when we are in heaven. God gave us a beautiful Spring to enjoy during this challenging time. We’re due for more storms today. Please stay safe and well sweet friend. Clara♥️
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Thank you sweet Clara. I hope you were spared bad weather. Fortunately we have only had rain. Further south, there were some nasty thunderstorms with straight line winds that caused quite a bit of damage. Have a lovely week ♥️

Pam, such a beautiful and happy post. Oh, do those strawberries look wonderful. We don’t see them until June, but I am patiently waiting. Precious Ella Mae with her crown. Truly she needs one. The photos of the old irises are wonderful. The old varieties are tough and will come back for years.
Wishing you and your family a beautiful day and week ahead. Do stay well. Be safe, as I know the deep south has storms predicted for today and tonight. Blessings, dear friend. ❤
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Thank you Sandra. I love to see old irises come up around old homes, some that have been long abandoned. Wishing you a wonderful week my friend♥️

Good morning, Pam! Such a beautiful post for this Sunday! Miss Ella Mae looks beautiful in her pretty crown. I love what you said about the Iris. At my grandparent’s home a border of daffodils pop up in the spring. My mom remembers her great aunt digging them up from her garden and giving them to her because she admired them. She and my grandfather came back home and planted them. This was probably around 1957. Since the house is now for sale, my mom and I have now transplanted the daffodils to our gardens. Hopefully, they will be enjoyed for many more years to come. Take care, and have a wonderful day, sweet friend!

Shannon, I am so glad to read that you and your mom have transplanted those special daffodils, with memories attached, in your garden. I know that you will enjoy them for many springtime’s to come. Have a wonderful week!

Bendiciones querida amiga

What beautiful spring photos! Ella Mae looks every inch the princess!! I have a big bed of iris and a magnolia tree from dear friends who have passed; whenever they bloom, I hope I’m getting smiles from Heaven. Can’t believe we are about to have another Sunday night of violent weather. Stay safe, dear Pam.
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Happy Anniversary my friend. Our weather is ok in our area, it is further south with a lot of wind damage earlier today. I hope you won’t be experiencing bad weather. Take care!

Those strawberries look so good! We have a strawberry festival in May and they always have the best strawberry ice cream. I’m guessing it will be canceled this year. The crown is so pretty for such a beautiful little princess!
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Thank you Michelle. All of the lovely spring events have been cancelled around here.

I very sweet post to cause sweet memories to come back. Iris, day lilies, peonies, lilacs are just a few that have lived on after my loved ones have passed over. One of the joys of gardening is sharing our plants with others. Oh the joy it is to see them enjoyed in another’s garden. Clover tiaras look more lovely on little princesses don’t they? Green trees, green grass. Somewhere under the 21” of snow we got last week is going to be green grass.
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Thank you Alice. Yes, sharing plants with others brings much joy and to think they live long after we are gone is truly a blessing. I hope spring arrives sooner than later for you!

Aw, that is so sad thinking about the dear ones who planted those flowers! I guess I shouldn’t think it sad, though, if they have gone on to Heaven. They are seeing much prettier sights than we will ever see in this world. God bless you.
