Happy Sunday and beyond! Possibly our final dahlia of the season, Dahlia Avignon, turned out to be one of the prettiest. We’ve had a hard time with dahlias this summer but this one greeted us this week like a sunrise!
Autumn fire sedum has looked great all summer and is now living up to it’s name with a burst of fall color.
Wild sunflowers are dominating the fields and open areas around our house. Didn’t capture a decent pic (not yet anyway) but spotted our first monarch butterfly working these blooms. Maybe that one was a sign that other monarchs will be passing through this week and I can grab a good photo. October typically brings an ample supply of monarchs to our garden, but not this year!
Asters are another fall favorite of mine. These flowers bring back fond memories from many years ago. Asters were one of the early flowers that PJ and I fondly grew the first growing season after we moved in, over 40 years ago.
Sisters and sand seem to suit Queen EM and Princess EK. We are missing our little ones this weekend but they love the beach.
Wyatt on the other hand probably wishes to be left alone and has had enough of this sand business! I thought he even had it on his head but I learned that is sunscreen.
Most of our Sunday posts reflect the simple things that have been a part of the previous week’s everyday living. While on a hike through the woods I came across a squirrel and chipmunk dining room. It looks like smorgasbord or cafeteria style!
And, I truly hope not to bore you with the fungus tour. But with an unusually wet autumn, I am finding an abundance of beautifully colored and interesting fungi. A wide variety caught my eye and I couldn’t help but show some of them today!
This looks like a real tight family gathering!
I won’t try to name this one but if I was responsible for giving it a name, I might call it a daisy mushroom. There were a lot more but Pam said “enough”. (I may slip some more in next week)
A lot of people spend money and some amount of effort to place spooky webs all over their shrubbery come October. We just wait for a heavy dew after the local insects have worked all night, add a little early morning sun…
…and we save time and money. All natural and biodegradable.
Add a golden yellow “mum”background and we have a fall feel without any “spooky-ness”!

And again, sorry you are enduring a web tour so soon after a fungi tour, but this was my favorite and I couldn’t bear to leave it out. A crape myrtle wrapped in silk!
PJ made a wonderful pic of a lone zinnia and I thought this orange was so representative of autumn. And, the zinnias will only be around a few more days! I pulled up the few remaining zinnias in one bed yesterday, and prepared the space for winter!
Some things speak for themselves and there is absolutely nothing that can be added!

Oh the verse from Isaiah. Need I say more. Holding hands is a precious gift to the young and old. A helping hand that leads us on our way. The queen and princess have a relationship that will last a lifetime. So sweet. I love the fungi pictures. Some look like flowers and Pam I never get tired of seeing them so Butch keep showing these gifts from our Heavenly Father. The dinning room picture took me a minute but then I figured out what I saw. The squirrels are eating the pine cones on our trees and leaving what’s left of their meals all over the lawn. Yesterday the wind showed up and the beautiful trees started losing their leaves. It’s been a glorious Fall so far but this week we get 30 degree weather. Love to both of you.

When I was farming with my late hubby we would see all the spider’s webs everywhere dripping with dew each morning on our way down to the paddocks to check the sheep & their water troughs.
Many would glisten in the sun like diamonds. Such delightful happy memories.
