“And the angel said to them, “Fear not, for behold, I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all the people. For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord.”
Luke 2:10-11
*Please join us as we continue to pray for so many across our nation who have been so tragically impacted by the weekends severe weather outbreak.*
When PJ takes a pre-dawn golf cart ride on a frosty December day you never know what might show itself. Welcome to one of our mornings!
Cardinals always spend winters here in fairly large numbers it seems. We are glad they do, especially in December when their beautiful red against natural green backdrops is Christmasy!
I took a late autumn walk along the river and through the woods last week. I was tempted to go back to the house and get a box of our old unused ornaments and bring them back and place them on one of these cedars…a little greeting for the passing boaters. I probably would have, but the bank is fairly steep. After further consideration I determined decorating here wasn’t such a good idea!
There are always interesting nuggets along the way when I just wander randomly through the pines. I like to entertain questions in my mind; like how old is this stump, what happened to cause its demise, or maybe what caused the hole…was there a limb attached here?
This pine has inherited my knee trouble, and it does not appear to be that old! Again, I wonder what causes something like this to occur? BTW- I know what causes my knee trouble. Will that statement get me some comments about age? Be nice, please.
We don’t believe this is normal but it has been unseasonably warm of late. Perhaps we’ve not paid attention in previous years and this is common but our gardenias appear to have buds, and lots of them? We are thinking this is not really a good thing.
The fence protecting the Japanese Magnolia from the yearly deer assaults seems to have worked. But, now I wonder if it is going to bloom and then be damaged by winter weather which is certain to arrive!
While this will serve as today’s primary throwback, the pic is current as there are 6 of these eggs on our tree. We purchased these in London at Fortnum & Mason in 2006. Usually PJ would be the shopper and make a decision to buy something of this nature but I remember spotting these and I just had to have them! Fortnum & Mason has been in business since 1707! They came in a neat padded case designed perfectly to protect the contents and so far none have broken.
I certainly can’t add to this!
A few more scenes from our journey to Christmas at the Falls…Gilliland’s Covered Bridge, built in 1899, was relocated to Noccalula Falls Park. The bridge is a year-round attraction but is especially pretty adorned for Christmas.
Caroling, Caroling! Did you ever join with a group of friends and go door to door in neighborhoods singing carols? We did that quite a few times, back in the day. Fond memory!
A colorful treat that I’m sure gets little eyes all excited!
We have plenty of coyotes in our part of the world, but this is as close as we can come to a wolf. “Have you ever heard the wolf cry to the blue corn moon?”
Please allow me one more throwback, after all it’s almost Christmas. The yellow Christopher Radko taxi was the first ornament we purchased in New York City. The miracle on 34th Street that year (2007) was that I was in Macy’s shopping!
A brief spring-like shower last week with the sun shining had rainbows popping up everywhere. There’s more than one here if you look closely, one ending right on top of EM, EK, and WL’s house. No pot of gold. I am thinking that is a myth. We’ve been misled about that pot of gold but this is certainly a reminder of God’s promises and that He never misleads!
Have a blessed week!

What a beautiful way to begin my day (after my morning time with my Savior). I love your walk pictures and your throwback ones. Cardinals are special to me for many family-related reasons. And remember, Pam, knee troubles come at all ages! You’re such a blessing to me and others. You bring joy to our “tables”. Our Christ is the light, indeed. I stand with you in prayer of all the victims. It was 70 degrees that evening and Finley and I spent 30 minutes hunkered down during tornado warnings. I’ve grown up with them. Although 4 homes were destroyed near me, no one died. I’m so saddened by the loss of lives in these storms across the states. 🙏🏻🙏🏻😭❤️

Yes, the tragic loss of lives is so heartbreaking. Like you, Karla I have

Karla, the tragic loss of lives is heartbreaking. Alabama has had many devastating tornadoes. We always have our helmets ready to put on. We pray for all impacted.
Christ is the light in the darkness and His light will never go out!♥️🙏🏻

Where would we be without Christ? ❤️🙏🏻 please stay safe and blessed.

I shudder to think where I would be.

Me too, Pam. At one time I was at my rock bottom. But on my fall I fell flat on my faith. HE is my everything! 💚

Amen!♥️

I love how you take notice on your walks and share. I noticed buds on both tulip magnolia and forsythia this week! Wishing your family a beautiful week to come!

Thank you Rita. Wishing your family a joyous week!

Once again spectacular pictures and reminders that you can find beauty in all of God’s beautiful world. I love seeing the way you find so many interesting things like the tree with knee trouble and the one with the big hole. Don’t worry about getting old. It happens to the best of us.😂
I am definitely praying for those in the path of destruction this weekend. My niece in Princeton, KY lost her house. I just can’t imagine what that must feel like. But they know the Lord and He will carry them through.
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Thank you, Nancy. Yes, beauty is present in God’s creation.
I am so sorry your niece lost her home, so very tragic 🙏🏻

Dear friends, thank you for this always precious post. We had a beautiful rainbow in the morning two days ago here too… Love those gorgeous Christmas ornaments. And that red cardinal, how stunning! Sending prayers to people in Kentucky and to all of you.
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Those rainbows are so special and remind us of God’s promises that are always true! Thank you, Maristella!

Pam and Butch, There are so many beautiful shots. Love the ornaments from your travels. It’s been way too warm and the plants are confused. Friday was a scary day as it was 80 degrees during the day and high seventies very late in the evening when tornado warnings were issued. We’re thinking and praying for everyone affected. Our area was fortunate in that only power and trees were downed. The rainbows are beautiful and always bring hope. I love the bridge at the Falls. Everything is so colorful and pretty. Enjoy your day sweet friends. Clara ❤️
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Thank you, Clara. I am so glad you were spared the worst of the storms. My heart goes out to all that were tragically impacted. Have a lovely week ♥️

Happy Sunday, Butch and Pam! It has been unseasonably warm here too, and things are budding that shouldn’t. That has me a little worried. I know a freeze will come and mess things up for spring. The sunrise that Pam captured is gorgeous! They are the best this time of year. I have never visited Fortnum and Mason’s, but hope to one day. I love ordering their teas. They are the best! Wishing you both a beautiful week ahead!
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Thanks so much, Shannon. I need to order some Fortnum’s tea. Blessings on your week!

Good morning, Butch and Pam. Your walks are always so pretty and interesting. Nature is truly grand. Mostly, I loved the rainbow at the end. Rainbows always capture my heart.
Wishing you and yours a beautiful day and week ahead.
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Thank you, Sandra. Rainbows also capture my heart. Wishing you joy-filled week!

Good morning on this beautiful Sunday Pam and Butch! Prayers for our Southern neighbors who were impacted by the terrible tornadoes yesterday…I always enjoy my Sunday walks with you, stopping and smelling the roses if you will, and enjoying your beautiful scenery… I hope your week ahead will be festive and merry!

Thank you for the beauty of the sunrise that opened today’s entry and the glorious rainbow…reminders the Lord is with us and guiding our way. The Christmas lights and that awesome bridge make for an exciting in person experience. Butch, my beloved Brother never mentioned age, but attributed his achy knees to an heroic football injury (would not even call IT old) Alas, this warm weather may portend the weakening of Spring’s blossoming, come the first real freeze. One can only hope otherwise. We continue in prayer for those whose lives have been so cruelly altered by the devastation of the tornadoes, particularly during this otherwise joyous Season. Prayers for those courageous souls on site who are responding with rescue
efforts and for those others picking up the very pieces of their lives in the debris. None of this can compare to losing a loved one and our hearts go out to them in prayer and comfort. Our prayers for His healing mercies and our physical help to the victims are so needed at this time.
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Mary, we know that God is faithful and His promises are true. We continue praying for all those devastated from the storms!

I love your throwbacks! Isn’t Fortnum’s wonderful? I wish I’d brought back and ornament from there (although truth be told, my bags had more than a few ornaments from England as it was!). Love the taxi, too — and your beautiful cardinals — always a fave! Happy week to come!
Pam @ Everyday Living says
Thanks you, Jeanie! I would love a return visit to Fortnum’s. Happy week to you!

What a lovely stroll we got to go on with you today! I enjoy not only all the nature captures but also the throwbacks. But most of all the verses you choose are perfect as well.
Your strolls show us God’s Beauty… thank you!
Prayers for all those devastated in the storms!

Good Sunday Pam. I love the sweet pics you shared from your walk. I am praying for all of those that devastated by the tornado. So sad to see it hit so many lives especially only a few weeks before Christmas. So many families instead of celebrating joy will be laying to rest family members. Very sad and prayers go out to all of them. Have a great new week. Hard to believe only two more weeks until Christmas. xoxo Kris

Yes, it truly is so tragic. Christmas seems to have come so quickly this year. Have a wonderful week!

The destruction of that is storm is almost incomprehensible, praying for everyone. Butch’s keen eye spies so many interesting things. Tell him I now warn my doctors do not start any conversation with “well, at your age”! I have a Radko yellow taxi cab too with Santa waving out the window, purchased at the top of the Empire State Building! Hope you have a joyous week.
Pam @ Everyday Living says
You are so funny, I will pass that along to Butch. We had so many fun trips to NYC during the Christmas season. Many sweet memories were made ♥️
Alice Genzlinger says
I’m late responding to Butchs’ post but most tell you in almost every picture I see signs of Jesus return. Nature is one and rainbows for sure. And yes I have been caroling often. One I remember was shortly after Arriving in Colorado my neighbor printed sheets of carols and some of us in the development went out on the coldest, icy night I’ve ever experienced. But the group returned to our home for warm refreshments. Butch I twisted my knee and can sympathize with you. Physical therapy is going to help I hope.
Cheryl says
Just maybe EM, EK, and WL’s house IS the pot of gold at the end of your rainbow! Such a dear, sweet family you have, and that certainly is more precious than gold. 🙂 God bless all of you this Christmas season!

A rainbow is a beautiful sign of God’s promises. He is faithful and true!
