“Charm is deceitful, and beauty is vain, but a woman who fears the Lord is to be praised.”
Proverbs 31:30
HAPPY MOTHER’S DAY
Since I cannot make the rounds to see a couple thousand moms, I have decided to offer some virtual Mother’s Day gifts for all moms everywhere and also feature some special Moms! The first gift is this floral arrangement consisting of peonies, all from our garden, displayed on a beautiful cloth. Now I must admit, one of today’s honored Moms was largely responsible for putting this together, but I was tremendous help!
Seth and his Mom (often known these days as PJ) happen to be very accessible to me and for that I am blessed and extremely thankful. As an only child, he received every ounce of Pam’s undivided attention. He probably thought it was too much at times, but I can assure you he now knows the value of a Godly, loving, attentive Mom!
Our first magnolia bloom appeared last week just in time for Mother’s Day. There is something about the elegance of a magnolia that seems to fit perfectly when thinking about Moms!
This is truly everyday living as our daughter-in-love is doing what great mothers do…spending precious time doing whatever these little ones want to do as they were enjoying a recent camping trip. She pours her entire being into the children, loving and teaching. You can tell by the faces that there is no place they would rather be than with her!
I hope you find this peony, with it’s morning rain droplets, a soothing and inspiring addition to your day. Use your imagination for the fragrance!
The scriptures have much to say about Godly wives and Mothers, but Proverbs 31 captures the value and essence of women that love God in such a comprehensive way. Mother’s Day always prompts a reading of this awesome chapter.
Pam and I both had strawberry semifreddo as our dessert last week when we went out for an early Mom’s Day dinner at our favorite restaurant. Again, pretend this is being served to you and have a bite! Another reason for displaying a marvelous dessert is because it stirs up thoughts of a Mother that could make sweets of all kinds like no one else in the known world…
…Pam’s Mother! She always had room at her table for family and visitors alike and not only were her desserts the best (and there were always several choices), her food was to die for. I first dined at her table in 1970 and I think I’ve battled weight ever since! If forced to pick a one word description for her, it would have to be “servant”. This pic, we believe, was taken in 1972.
I chose to include these lilies today because they were planted years ago by Pam’s Mom. This pic was made last week…yes, just like the legacy and influence of the wonderful Mom that planted them, they, and their beauty, lives on! Pam’s Mom has been in heaven for fifteen years!
My Mom was such a pretty young lady. I am not sure how old she was in this photo but I’m guessing about 18. I was fortunate to have her living nearby all my life. She was sweet and called me baby, when I was 65! She passed away over six years ago.
We all have unique and different family situations. I truly feel undeserving but extremely blessed to have all these special Moms in my life!

What beautiful mothers you have been fortunate to have in your lives. Mother’s Day is always bittersweet, as we still love and honor mothers and grandmothers who have gone on to Heaven. There are so many times when I want to pick up the phone to ask my mother how she cooked something; I treasure all her handwritten recipe cards in my recipe box

Roxanne, you have so many cherished memories to hold in your heart. Your Mother was beautiful and you look just like her!

Thank you Butch and Pam for such wonderful memories of your mothers which makes us think naturally of our mothers. I love the sentiments and I especially love proverbs 31. I have a Bible study in our home every Friday afternoon, and our study is a woman after God’s own heart, it sounds as if both of your mothers were just that kind of women. God bless you both. Hugs …your friend in Christ

Happy Mother’s to both of you! Yes I know but the pictures of both of your mothers had me think of Proverbs 31. What mothers you both had and your life is a picture of the time and effort put in you. Oh the pic of the daughter in love and her babies is heart warming.

Thank you dear, Alice. I hope your day is very special!

Says she as she brushes away a tear, “Bless you for this love tribute to Motherhood.” Those
pictures of your Moms and Family conjure up what dedication and the spirit of giving is all about.
The flowers represent the seeds planted a time ago that now blossom into the family life of devotion they created. Hug Sweet Daddy for Memaw…..Embrace this special day together.

What a lovely tribute to all the mothers in your family.
Your peonies are exquisite! So happy you have them to enjoy.
We are at St. George for our family vacation . Amy cut some of her peonies and some of her roses and brought them with her because she hated to leave them.
That dessert looks fabulous!
