Welcome sweet friends! Can you believe Christmas is only thirteen days away?
“For to us a child is born, to us a son is given; and the government shall be upon his shoulder, and his name shall be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.”
Isaiah 9:6 ESV
Yesterday was a special day as we celebrated our son’s birthday. Long-time readers know that we were married for 13 years before he was born. God so graciously answered our prayers those many years ago. It has only been in recent years that I have been willing to mix Christmas decor, table settings, and festivities with Seth’s birthday celebration. He would’ve never given it a thought, but I always wanted his birthday to be a special time for him. We all enjoyed this Christmas tablesetting at a sweet birthday dinner!
We have a tradition of the same menu every year…manicotti, Caesar salad, garlic bread, and his favorite cake…red velvet.
As soon as we sat down at the table, he asked me if those were Nanny’s glasses. I was surprised that he would remember the red glasses since my Mother passed away seventeen years ago. I had recently brought them home from my Daddy’s.
As an April Cornell Brand Ambassador I am gifted table linens for each season! The only new items on the table are the ‘Holly Song’ ecru tablecloth and ‘Essential Green’ napkins! The tablecloth has lovely lyrical sentiments penned in April’s inimitable style that add a touch of whimsy and wonder to the signature Holly print on cotton. The tablecloth is currently on sale at April Cornell. Tartan chargers hold Royal Stafford ‘Christmas Sleigh’ dinner plates with Santa and his reindeer. Twig flatware was a long ago purchase from Tuesday Morning. The Old World Santa and Christmas tree napkin rings were all made by my Mother!
A pair of candle boxes bring an old world feel and rustic simplicity to the table. These were placed near each end of the table where my guys were seated and they especially liked them as one stated, “it added a masculine touch”. I was happy they noticed!
Decorating the chandelier during the Christmas season is always fun. RM cuts fresh greenery each year. I decided to hang star pillow ornaments over the table for a little bling!
Sprigs of holly to mimic the tablecloth were placed on the silver tray with red bottle brush trees!
I loved reading all the lyrical sentiments that April added to the cloth!
Thank you for your visit and gracious comments! Wishing you a joy-filled Christmas season!

A very happy birthday to Seth! gorgeous table, Pam. I love the new April Cornell table linens. Lucky you! the plate on plaid charger on the tablecloth makes a beautiful look, esp with the green napkin and silver twig flatware!
Thank you, Rita! It was a fun evening. The girls make cards and it is fun to listen to them explain their cards!
Happy Birthday to Seth!! The table is absolutely gorgeous! Love the pattern of the tablecloth! How sweet of Seth to remember his Grandmother’s beautiful Ruby Red glasses. Traditions are so important and you do such wonderful things to keep them alive! Have a Merry Day Pam!!
Thank you, Shirley! Traditions are important to me and thankfully Seth feels the same way!
Merry Thursday Pam and Happy Birthday wishes to Seth…his birthday dinner sounds delicious! I love your beautiful table and ‘Holly Song’ tablecloth. Such a pretty mix of greenery along with the little bottle brush trees and pop of red from your mom’s stemware! So festive to see the twinkling lights of the tree and garland over you mantle in the background. 🎄♥
Thank you, Mary! It was a hurry up and take photos yesterday morning. We had a fun evening!
Happy Birhday to Seth! Our son’s (our only child) birthday is the 16th and he will be 35 this year. How did that happen?? Your table is beautiful and that new tablecloth is stunning! BTW, my baby brother’s birthday is Christmas day. I will never forget that very special Christmas. I was 12. Merry Christmas to all of you!
Lynda, our son turned 39 yesterday. I don’t know how that happened, it was just yesterday that he was playing in the floor. How fun to have a birthday on Christmas! Wishing your son a happy 35th birthday!
Happy Birthday, Seth! What a magical table to serve such a delicious birthday menu. How marvelous he remembered his Nanny’s beautiful red glasses, and now that remembrance has been passed down to the next generation. The AC tablecloth is lovely, and I love the shade of green for the napkins. I also love the red bottlebrush trees and the stars hanging from your chandelier. Back in my 30s I made a collection of sequined silver Christmas bells that hang from my chandelier (does anyone remember the Lee Ward craft company?). Between my “senior” vision and arthritic fingers, I could never do that today! Hope this year is positively wonderful for Seth…I know he has a very special gift arriving in the new year!
Thank you, Roxanne. Mother’s ruby red glasses had not been used in 17 years. He immediately said something before we sat down. I also love the shade of green on the napkins. What a treasure are the sequined silver bells made years ago. Yes, we all are excited about the special gift!❤️
Happy Birthday to your son. I love the tartan chargers and Nanny’s crystal is exquisite. It’s (as always) an elegant and delightful table, Pam!
Thanks so much, Jeanie!
What a beautiful birthday table! Happy birthday to Seth! The tablecloth is beautiful, but the Santa your mom painted is still my favorite thing. She was really talented in so many ways. All those holly leaves on the chair would have been tedious to paint, but they made the chair look so festive. Love the red glasses too. The plate pattern is really pretty. The wooden boxes do add a rustic, masculine feel. The menu sounds tasty. Enjoy your day. Clara❤️
Thank you, Clara! I love the Old World Santa’s my Mother made. I have most of them in the cottage this Christmas! I hope you had a lovely day ❤️
Happy Birthday Seth. Your table is beautiful. The Santa your mom made is really gorgeous and what a treasured heirloom to have. Have a great rest of the week. Hugs. Kris
Thanks so much, Kris. I hope your day was wonderful ❤️
Merry Thursday Pam, and happy Birthday to Seth! Your table is stunning! The April Cornell tablecloth is so pretty paired with the Christmas plates. Your mother’s red goblets add such a lovely and festive touch to your table. I adore red glassware. I have been thinking about adding some to my collection. I know I don’t need anymore dishes or glassware-lol, but they just look beautiful on a holiday table, Your dining room just sparkles during this wonderful Christmas season. Wishing you a blessed day, my dear friend!
Thank you, sweet Shannon! My Mother always used the ruby red goblets every year at Christmas. She must have had 20 of them and she hosted friends in her home constantly. She was amazing! Wishing you a merry weekend!
Coming to your house must absolutely be thrilling to your three grands. Everything speaks of joy and love of family. Seth has the best gift of all. A loving mom and dad living close by and three, soon to be four children, to share it all with them, merry Christmas indeed and happy birthday Seth.
Alice, you are so sweet. We had the best time last night with the grands! We are excited about another little one! Wyatt is excited to be getting a brother. Thank you dear Alice!
Happy Birthday Seth! This birthday/Christmas table is beautiful Pam! I love the Santa centerpiece your mom made and the AC tablecloth. Everything is so red and green festive! I hope you all had a grand time celebrating Seth’s birthday and toasting him with “Nanny’s” red glasses. What a beautiful table! Happy birthday to your son, it sounds like a wonderful day!
Thanks so much! It was a wonderful celebration!
Such a beautiful table for your Seth’s birthday party! The essential green napkins with the dark green of your dear and talented mother’s ceramic green trees warmed my heart. My mother too, enjoyed making ceramics, it’s nice we have these memories and happy traditions. Thank you for sharing the joy with us!
Sue, thanks so much. Your mother also enjoyed making ceramics. Do you have some of her pieces? Yes, memories and traditions are a blessing!
I am certain Seth realizes how blessed he is with loving family and memories. The beautiful Santa centerpiece bespeaks of your dear Mother’s talent and patience. That is some Birthday dinner to honor
the occasion….delicious.. The entire table and cloth cover take Christmas celebration to another level.
