Happy Tuesday, sweet friends! I hope you all are enjoying cooler temperatures this week, it is definitely a respite for us. I can’t believe that Labor Day and the first day of September is next Monday. It is also the first day of meteorological autumn! Are you already in full decorating mode or just making plans, like me?
“Have you not known? Have you not heard? The Lord is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth. He does not faint or grow weary; his understanding is unsearchable.”
Isaiah 40:28 (ESV)
I have rounded up fall tabletop and floral inspiration to give you ideas for your autumn dinners with family and friends. To view the original posts, click the highlighted links.
As most of you know, autumn is my favorite season and October is my favorite month! Glorious October afternoons are perfect for setting a table in the garden to celebrate fall! A favorite plaid tablecloth sets an autumnal mood. Flowers are a mix from our garden and the grocery store.
Septembers can be hot and humid in our Appalachian Foothills. A favorite dish pattern called ‘Artesian Road’ by Tracy Porter might not make you think of fall, but by adding pumpkin-colored napkins, plaid tablecloth, and copper flatware, we are easing into autumn! Dahlias, zinnias, hydrangeas, and coleus were chosen to complement the peacock bowl!
You might notice the same tablecloth is used as the one in the previous tablescape. You don’t have to buy new, but find different ways to use what you already have! Apples and dahlias are perfect for a September table! Zinnias, Limelight hydrangeas, and Chaste tree blooms were cut from my garden, but the dahlias were cut from a flower farm!
September is the gateway to autumn! A burst of sunshine in April Cornell’s tablecloth and coordinating napkins provide the perfect autumn gold-colored background for faux leather chargers and bird plates. Sunflowers from our garden and grocery store mums, green trick dianthus and alstroemeria were a quick and easy flower arrangement!
Autumn and pumpkins just go together, what do you think? Pumpkins and petals offer me simple pleasures of our country living. Can one ever have too many pumpkins during fall?
Who says blue and white can’t be used for fall? Certainly not I. Foraged stems of leaves and berries were free for the cutting! Mini pumpkins were a cute addition to each dinner plate.
The splendors of autumn awaken all my senses! The beautiful tapestry used as a table covering would never be used to serve food, but it has a sweet memory attached that I enjoy sharing! Flowers for the arrangement were all cut from my garden…Limelight hydrangeas, Autumn Fire sedum, coleus, purple fountain grass plumes, chaste tree seed heads, and hosta leaves!
By now, you all know that fall is my favorite color! I love fall’s color palette of brilliant oranges, golden yellows, rusty reds, and chestnut browns! I don’t think I have ever met a fall color that I didn’t love. Wicker chargers hold my favorite Spode ‘Woodland’ pattern and majolica leaf salad plates. Sunflowers, zinnias, dahlias, gomphrena, celosia, lantana, and big leaf hosta were arranged in a very old stoneware pitcher that belonged to my paternal grandmother.
Using a throw as a table covering makes for a cozy autumn table. It has the look of a warm sweater. I love using copper for fall, a hammered pitcher and flatware! Garden and farm flowers make me smile!
Collecting is a weakness of mine! Many years ago I ran across four art glass handbags. I didn’t just purchase one or two, but all four. I had placed them in a guest bedroom and finally, while dusting a couple of years ago, it dawned on me to use them for flowers! For this autumn table, I chose three of the petite handbags for a centerpiece. Floral quilted placemats and matching napkins are wearing their full colors!
With little effort using what I had, this table came together quickly. A perfect blend of gorgeous light, fall colors, and rustic textures, the patio table struck a chord of autumn’s harmony!
In our Appalachian Foothills of NE Alabama, fall is the season to harvest cotton, soybeans, corn, pumpkins, muscadine, and scuppernong grapes. To honor the season, I set a happy October harvest table in the garden!
A box of autumn is an easy centerpiece with little flower arranging skills needed!
My RM foraged the 250 acre wood for wildflowers to place in the copper pitcher. I love the wild and free arrangement for autumn. Copper mugs contain cold apple cider!
The vintage ‘Harvest Time’ pattern by Johnson Brothers is so perfect for fall and I bring it out each year! Using my charcuterie board as the base for a centerpiece, I assembled copper mugs and candles. The mugs were filled with clippings from the garden.
I love a blooming pumpkin as a centerpiece! I get very excited for pumpkin season and use them in the garden, on the cottage porch, and anywhere I see a bare spot that I think needs a pumpkin! What would autumn be without pumpkins?
I will be joining a group of fourteen talented table stylists for a Welcoming Fall Tablescape Blog Hop next Tuesday, September 2nd. I hope you will join me for autumn inspiration and ideas!
Thank you for your visit and gracious comments. Wishing you a delightful last week of August!

Oh so many beautiful tables today. My favorite are the peacock flower arrangement (I love the peacock bowl) and the tapestry you used for a tablecloth. It’s chilly here this morning. Thinking of turning on the fireplace for a minute. I loved Fall when I lived in the south but now melancholy sets in because our winters are far too long.
Thank you, Alice! We had a nice day with a high of 80, which is a cool down for us. Thinking of you and the long days of winter that will be upon you. A cozy fire sounds perfect, my friend!
Good Morning Pam. I love your box of Autumn table. So pretty and romantic with the candles. I am a summer girl but I am looking forward to fall. We have had record temps this summer of being hot hot hot and humid. The crisp fall air will be welcome. Have a great week. Hugs. Kris
Thank you, Kris. It seems most of us are ready for a break with the heat and humidity. Wishing you a great week!

Good morning, Pam! I know I tell you this every year, but your fall tablescapes are always my favorites. Each one of these autumn settings are absolutely gorgeous! The colors, textures, and pretties lovingly displayed are a feast for the eyes. We are experiencing unusual cooler temperatures this week. Looking ahead it looks like we may have an early fall. My gardens are so tired and spent looking. I’m ready for lots of pumpkins and mums to brighten things up. I wish you a most happy and blessed week my dear friend!
Shannon, you are always so sweet. I love autumn and its colors! Enjoy your cooler weather, I know you have endured extreme heat. I look forward to your table next week, dear one!
Wow Pam, such a beautiful collection of settings with so much inspiration. Lovely fall color and I especially noticed all the linens. I love seeing the cottage in the background, the flowers and garden. Stunning! Have a wonderful week.
Your comments are so sweet, Emily. I hope you are enjoying cooler weather this week!
Pam, what beautiful tablescapes It would be hard to pick a favorite. I laughed when you said you bought all four glass handbags. My mother used to say “You have to get while the getting is good” Given inflation, I think it was a good buy.
Thanks, Myrna. Your mother was correct. I hope you are having a lovely week!
Very beautiful and heartwarming ❤️ The colours are vibrant and attractive.
Warm greetings from Montreal, Canada 😊🇨🇦
Thank you, and greetings to you in Montreal! I hope you are having a lovely week, Linda!
I’ve been feasting on all the falls feels in those tablescapes. A real symphony of amber, rust, golds, greens – true elegance! And, well I’m inspired!

Hello dear Pam! today felt like the first taste of Fall, and your beautiful tablescapes just enhanced that feeling! But how crazy is this weather? It’s still August in the Deep South! As anxious as I am for Fall and all that entails, time just seems like it is flying by faster and faster. I am trying to appreciate each and every day however it unfolds.
Thank you, Roxanne. I agree that time is flying by faster and faster. Appreciating each and every day is what I want to do. I am enjoying the respite from the heat. Have a wonderful day, dear one!
Pam, what a wealth of inspiration for our autumn tables. Thank you! It’s no secret that autumn is my favorite season as well. I love the cooler air and the colors of the change in season. Cheers to autumn! Bring it on!
Thank you, Sarah. I look forward to joining you at the blog hop. Yes, cheers to autumn!
All your tables are stunning Pam. My favorite item is the peacock centerpiece! It’s gorgeous! I’m so ready for fall. We’ve had some cooler weather and I’m ready for it to stay! Thanks for the beautiful roundup. We’re supposed to have rain tomorrow. We need it as we’re now in a drought situation. It’s either feast or famine when it comes to rain. Take care! Clara ❤️
Thank you, Clara. We had the lowest temperature in the state this morning at 52. We need rain and hopefully you can send it our way. Enjoy your weekend! ❤️
Pam, each of the tables is beautiful and like others, I find I can’t pick a favorite! As always, I adore your wonderful mixes of patterns, colors, and textures, and the centerpieces are all gorgeous. I’m glad you had some cooler weather to enjoy, even if only temporarily. I’m not quite ready to let summer go yet. Have a wonderful rest of the week!
These are all just beautiful! I love how you incorporate purples into your fall decor. I would never think to do that, but it truly pairs so beautifully with all the fall colors!
Thank you, Cheryl!
Those mini-pumpkins on the blue-and-white plates made me smile. Won’t everyone love to take one home! And the gorgeous colors of the flowers in the blooming pumpkin of another photo also caught my attention–a feast for the eyes! This cool spell of weather is such a gift for those of us who love fall!
Thank you so much, Nancy! I appreciate your sweet comments!
Oh goodness, Pam, each and every table is bursting with Fall happiness! Your centerpieces are all so colorful and I love all your amazing collections of dishes, mugs, pitchers, goblets, tablecloths, and napkins that are so artfully arranged. Ahhh such beauty!
