Happy Tuesday friends. I hope you are experiencing some lovely springtime weather. It has been beautiful in our Appalachian Foothills for the past five days!
“Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths.”
Proverbs 3:5-6 (ESV)
Welcome to the Sunshine Cottage and the March edition of Tea on Tuesdays!
You will find Mary’s link for a delicious recipe and a cuppa at the bottom of this post.
This sweet majolica teapot was first used in an Early Evening Tea in the Cottage Garden in 2024. I had recently discovered it at my Daddy’s home, but had no memories of my Mother using it. Possibly the teapot was a gift?
I normally need an inspiration piece to begin a table setting, and this beautiful teapot was just that!
I hosted several ladies from my church last Thursday afternoon and served small bites…chicken salad filled tart shells and banana nut bread with a cream cheese and pineapple filling. I made enough for my tea table the next day!
For this spring table I pulled out my seldom used wedding china! ‘Reverie’ by Noritake. It features multicolored wildflowers, small butterflies, and a distinctive green trim on the rim. The definition of reverie is a state of being pleasantly lost in one’s thoughts, a daydream. My cottage offers time for daydreaming and being pleasantly lost in my thoughts without feeling guilty for wasting time!
Pomegranate green tea is a favorite, perfect for a daydreaming afternoon or to share with a long-time friend!
I added Bordallo Pinheiro cabbageware plates to the stack!
As I am seeing bluebirds busily building their nests, my bluebird bejeweled trinket box flew in for a guest appearance!
“In the spring, I have counted 136 different kinds of weather inside 24 hours.”
~Mark Twain
Gardening gloves and vintage-styled postcards depicting old seed catalogs decorate my sweet Daddy’s typewriter!
‘Charming’, an older April Cornell tablecloth, provides a splendid floral background!
I hope you noticed the pretty potholder under the teapot, it was also pictured in one of the photos near the top!
My darling EK who will turn 7 this Thursday made this for me from a potholder weaving loom kit. I love it and will treasure it always! I thought it was perfect for my tea table!
Twig flatware was from Pier 1 several years ago. Like many of you, I could always find something I didn’t need in their store!
A trinket box with a rabbit sitting on a carrot joined the fun table!
“Can words describe the fragrance of the very breath of spring?”
~Neltje Blanchan
A snowball that survived the freeze and a couple of immature blooms were simply arranged in a birch bark container. It appears that our viburnum, Lady Banks roses, and the Bridal Wreath Spirea survived the three mornings of below freezing cold!

Good morning Pam, Your afternoon of tea and reverie is just so beautiful and inviting… I love how you drew inspiration from your wedding china, Reverie by Noritake…what a perfect name for such a dreamy setting. And your mother’s teapot adds such a meaningful, sentimental touch that makes your table feel even more special. I can just imagine sitting down with you, savoring a cup of Pomegranate green tea and enjoying a peaceful pause in your Sunshine Cottage. I couldn’t help but smile at EK’s sweet potholder too. As always, it’s a treat to share a cuppa with you. Wishing you a wonderful week ahead. ☕🩷
Thank you Mary. How fun it would be if we could really share tea🩷
Ahh, Reverie, the huge set of china I wish I had never purged. I love your wedding pattern, Pam. All I kept was a couple of oval serving platters. The potholder EK made is adorable, and perfectly placed beneath the teapot. I have yet to see if several of my blooms (they were just buds) survived our hard freeze as your beautiful blooms have. We had another night last night below 32°, fulfilling the Mark Twqin quote since late Sunday certainly, when we reached 90°! Your teatime snacks look both healthy and delicious. I love the little trinkets added to the table. Enjoy the reverie of time soent in your cottage.
Rita, I know you have regrets of purging the Reverie. I should use mine more often. It was cooler here this morning, the weather seems to be up and down and the pollen count is very high.
I’m experiencing reverie as I write. I’m daydreaming of your lovely table setting with its lovely cloth, plates and trinket boxes, especially bunny and carrot. Your father’s typewriter displayed exquisitely with the roses and seed catalog. You’re a girl with my same obsessions.
Cookie, I am so happy that you enjoyed my table! Wishing you a beautiful week!
I am happy to see the potholder weaving kits are still around, I made quite a few as a child and then went on to crocheting, needlepoint, etc. Maybe your granddaughter will do the same.
Thank you Analiese. How wonderful that you went on to crocheting and needlepoint. Hopefully my granddaughter will do the same!
Your tea table is so sweet Pam and I enjoyed the Scripture you have chosen this morning. The sweet gift from EK so touches the heart❣️ Such treats to enjoy…from delicious tea and nibbles to finding perfect little trinket boxes placed just so by such pretty dishes. You always make the day brighter, thank you for sharing the joy!
Thank you Sue. Your comments make my day brighter!
Love the sweet potholder what a nice gift from EK. Your church ladies must have loved your pretty table and yummy small bites. What a cute tea pot to start your table decor. Have a great week. Hugs. Kris
Thank you Kris! I was delighted to host ladies from my church! 🩷
How sweet and thoughtful of EK to make the colorful potholder for you. I am happy to hear she enjoys creating with her loom kit. That was always a fun activity when I was a kid. Your tea table is beautiful Pam! I love the colors. Your bunny and bird trinkets are adorable. Reverie is a lovely China pattern. I’m really happy to hear that your early bloomers survived the freeze. We went from 86 to 68 in a few hours between Sunday and Monday. I don’t mind that ad I prefer 68 to 86! Enjoy your day. Clara❤️
Thank you Clara. Like you I prefer 68 to 86. It is cooler here today❤️
What a delightful table Pam….how I would love to sit and linger over Pomegranate Green Tea in your Sunshine Cottage. I love the dappled sun on your ‘Charming’ AC tablecloth. Your trinket boxes are adorable…especially the pretty bluebird…I am partial to birds and smile anytime I see one flitting about or sitting on one’s table. I didn’t know those potholder kits were still around…I remember we did those in Brownies and Girl Scouts. Luv ’em and EK continues to endear herself to me. Your wedding china is so beautiful…the pattern of Reverie by Noritake is so dainty and special. I agree with Mary it is a perfect name for a perfect setting. Enjoy the weather while you can….Mark Twain is correct. hugs my friend🌸🦋🐝🌻
Thank you, Kari. It is cooler and windy here today. A sweater or light jacket feels good. Blessings my friend!
What a lovely table, Pam. Your wedding china is so pretty and it is just perfect for a springtime table. I love that you included EK’s potholder/table mat. Of course I love your bunnies and the typewriter. Beautiful — and personal!
Thank you Jeanie! Your comments are always sweet!
The quote from Provers is my favorite and one I’d memorized to keep me on track. I love your wedding china. It goes perfectly with the cabbage plate and all things Spring. I can just imagine the excitement the church group felt when they received your invitation to tea 🫖 in the Sunshine cottage and they haven’t stopped talking about it yet or ever. I’m very glad you were blessed with no damage from the freeze as I’m looking forward to all the flowering shrubs etc in your posts.
Thank you Alice. I also love the scripture from Proverbs. I was so happy to have the group of ladies, it was wonderful fellowship! Wishing you lovely week my friend!
Your granddaughter’s potholder is so delightful and the perfect addition to your tea tablescape! The tea sandwich made with banana bread and filled with pineapple cream cheese would be so very tasty this time of the year. Happy Spring!
Mary, how sweet you are and thank you!
I always enjoy my visits to the Sunshine Cottage and your teatime, Pam. Isn’t that teapot so darling, and perfect for Spring? Your wedding china is beautiful and your twiggy flatware is so lovely. Miss EK did a great job on the sweet potholder. This brought back memories of when I was a little girl. Making potholders on the loom was one of my favorite crafts. I’m still making potholders but now crocheting them. Enjoy your beautiful Springtime!
Thank you, Kitty. Our daughter-in-love does all kinds of crafts with our grandchildren. I need to learn to crochet and needlepoint! Enjoy your week!
What a lovely Spring table setting Pam. I did notice the potholder although thought at first it was a plaited cord for decoration.
I emphasized with your following statement;
“My cottage offers time for daydreaming and being pleasantly lost in my thoughts without feeling guilty for wasting time!”
My study & armchair do the same for me.
Blessings, Jennifer
Thank you Jennifer. I am so happy your study and armchair provide the same for you. Blessings my friend!
Pam, what a lovely setting. The potholder immediately brought back my own childhood memories of using a handheld loom to make these. So happy you discovered that charming teapot. What a beauty! Once again, the sun kissed images put me in a very relaxed mood, and each of the darling birds and nods to gardening delight.
Thank you Sarah. So many said they had memories of using a handheld loom to make potholders. I somehow missed out of this craft. Our daughter-in-love is always crafting with our grandchildren! Happy spring
Pam, such a charming table with that AC tablecloth. Your Reverie dishware is so pretty. I am loving the gorgeous teapot found at your daddy’s home. How very special EK made that pretty little pot holder, I know it will be treasured forever. Happy spring.🌷
Thank you Linda. Happy Spring 🌺
What charming table!!! Wonderful Noritake dishes, adorable boxes, gorgeous cloth and a precious gift from EK! Your Sunshine cottage is heavenly! Thank you for such inspiration!
Thanks so much, Maristella. Blessings sweet friend!
Pam, your table for tea is beautiful. The “found” teapot is so pretty and EK’s potholder is so precious on the table – Happy Birthday to her. The Reverie china is just lovely and I adore it’s delicate pattern with the BP plates and the “charming” AC tablecloth. Such pretty napkins and napkin rings. The menu sounds delicious and I’m sure all the ladies enjoyed it. I am so glad that your snowball viburnum and lady banks roses survived the freezing temperatures. Hopefully, the worst of the weather is done now. Happy spring and happy tea time relaxing in the Sunshine Cottage!
Thank you Kim. EK had a sweet birthday party yesterday that all of us enjoyed! Wishing you a wonderful weekend!
Aw, the potholder really touched my heart! What a sweet, thoughtful gift, and I know it is one that you will cherish forever. You are very blessed, indeed! May the blessings of our Lord continue to fall upon you and your family!
Thank you Cheryl. Having four grandchildren is a blessing!
Love the gorgeous teapot. EK did a nice job with the pretty potholder.
