Welcome friends and Happy Monday! I hope everyone had a joyous Easter weekend!
“Behold, God is my salvation; I will trust, and will not be afraid; for the Lord God is my strength and my song, and he has become my salvation.”
Isaiah 12:2 (ESV)
We enjoyed several of those perfectly beautiful spring days last week. It was sun mixed with clouds and nice breezes as spring is in full swing in our Appalachian Foothills! In celebration of the splendid spring weather, I spent a morning under the rose arbor!
It is the April edition of Monday Morning Blooms and the theme is spring bulbs and tulips. You may notice that “one of these is not like the others”!
Mary, Lidy, and I welcome back our dear friend, Sarah from Hyacinths For the Soul. You will find the links for these talented ladies at the bottom of this post!
Spring bulbs appear in our garden centers and grocery stores in late February and early March. By this time, what is left is struggling to survive. However, some of my favorite blooms arrive at this time in our garden. Lady Banks roses, Snowball Viburnum, Kwanzan Cherry Blossoms, and Bridal Wreath Spirea were in full bloom last week! I didn’t want to miss the opportunity to use these blooms in an arrangement. Springtime is the best time to set a table under the arbor!
One of the showiest spring blooming shrubs/trees is our Snowball Viburnum. The blooms are large, about eight to ten inches in diameter, and resemble snowballs. They are often mistaken for hydrangeas!
The Kwanzan Cherry trees’s ruffled double pink blossoms are some of my favorite spring blooms! I still claim the Kwanzan Cherry tree even though it is now on our son’s property.
The old-fashioned Bridal Wreath Spirea has graceful arching branches which can be used to make beautiful spring wreaths!
It was a gorgeous spring morning to enjoy my coffee and blueberry muffins under the arbor with dappled sunlight and a gentle breeze wafting through the trees!
I have long been a fan of blue and white dishware! The dinner plate and coffee mug are from the Spode ‘Blue Room’ collection. The salad plate ‘Botanic Garden’ by Portmeirion depicts a gorgeous iris. The Seymour Mann ‘China Blue’ porcelain pitcher was found years ago, so long ago that I don’t remember when or where! It has served me well as it has held many flower arrangements through the years.
The rose arbor provides a shady spot in our sunny garden!
“Oh the wonder of it! The outrageous beauty! God didn’t have to give us cherry blossoms you know.”
~Lynn Austin
Last summer we had a bumper crop of blueberries and I was able to freeze several pints. They are so delicious in muffins and cobblers. I can’t make a cobbler without thinking of how much my sweet Daddy loved them!
Having been a collector of way too many things, I enjoy sharing the bejeweled trinket boxes with you all. The butterfly is a favorite and seemed to complement the butterflies on the tablecloth!
The Lady Banks climbing rose is considered the quintessential cottage garden flower and blooms in early spring. Its buttery yellow double flowers are held in clusters and displayed on thornless branches.
I am often asked about this stemware. I ordered it from Horchow years ago and it has long been discontinued!
An April Cornell breakfast cloth is the perfect size for my small garden table. “April’s Village” is a water colored inspired design with butterflies, hummingbirds, and a rendition of April’s actual home in Burlington, Vermont along the border that isn’t shown here!
You are now invited to visit my friends and their beautiful florals!

Pam, this is pure springtime magic under your rose arbor! Your arrangement is absolutely stunning…those garden blooms look like they were gathered at the perfect moment. I’m swooning over the romantic mix of Lady Banks roses with those billowy Snowball Viburnum and the soft blush of Kwanzan cherry blossoms. And the delicate sprays of Bridal Wreath spirea add just the right airy, cottage-garden touch. It feels like stepping into a secret garden on a perfect spring morning. What a wonderful way to start the day and spot to enjoy your coffee and muffin. I love your pretty table details too. As always, it’s a treat to share some flower therapy with you. Happy April. 🌸💙
Thank you, Mary for your sweet comments. I always look forward to our Monday Morning Blooms🩷
Have any brides begged you to let them get married in your garden? – They should!
Leslie Anne thank you for your sweetness. Photos have been made, but can’t do any weddings. But no one has asked😊
A splendid spring vision, your garden table under the rose arbor is, Pam! Oh my, I look at these blooms – the Kwanzan cherry, the bridal wreath spirea, the Lady Banks and snowball viburnum – and I think, “how and where could I place one of these spring blooming beauties?!” My landscape is simply too small, but I keep thinking about what I could pull out and make it happen…..
Your table is beautiful with the blue & white and your butterfly trinket box. My sister and I are both preparing right now a blue & white display for our antique booth, and dismantling what remains of our Easter display. Your garden is truly so beautiful, especially in spring. Happy Monday Morning Blooms!
Rita, all four of those spring bloomers are favorites because they make quite a show and there is very little upkeep which is definitely a win. I hope you will show your blue and white display from the antique booth. Thank you, Rita!
Oh Pam! What a beautiful setting under your rose arbor. The Lady Banks roses are spectacular as is your lovely flower arrangement. I think you should have an invisible circle (boundary line) around the Kwanzan Cherry Tree, permanently grandfathering it into your property. LOL. How wonderful you share it with Seth and family….and not some grumpy neighbor. The delicate pink flowers are my favorite. The bridal wreath spirea is so common in my homestate of Kansas…it was used for hedge and border plants, but my favorite was to put a branch in a May basket along with a cluster of purple lilacs to surprise neighbors and friends after ringing their doorbell and hiding to watch their reactions. Your table is so inviting…though I noticed a table for one….which I believe is what we sometimes need…to be alone to meditate and enjoy God’s creation. “It is the beauty within us that makes it possible for us to recognize the beauty around us. The question is not what you look at but what you see.”
― Henry David Thoreau
Your blueberry muffins and blue and white dishes are a perfect choice, along with your butterfly trinket box….and of course your precious memories of your sweet Daddy.
Blessings and hugs always on this beautiful Spring Day!
Thank you, Kari. The Kwanzan Cherry tree was planted at least 50 years ago by the former owners of the farm. It is located on the land with the barn where our son built his house. He allows me to cut all the blossoms that I want (lol)! I love the frilly pink blooms, they make me smile. I know those May baskets with bridal wreath spirea were beautiful and how blessed were the recipients of your gift! Love the Thoreau quote and thanks for sharing. Blessing my friend!
Pam, how delightful to sit under the rose arbor, cup of coffee in hand, and enjoy a delicious blueberry muffin all the while looking out to the beauty of spring blooms. Seeing your snowy viburnum in containers gives me hope I might add some to my own garden space. The ruffled double pink blossoms of the Kwanzan cherry trees are also calling my name. Our Texas Red Buds are our substitute, and I always look forward to their spring show.
The bridal wreath spirea brings back fond memories of our first home. It was growing in our backyard when we purchased our 1930s cottage from the original owners. Spode blue and white has long been a favorite here too, Pam, though I gave my set of dinner plates to a cousin who is younger, collects Spode, and loves to entertain. I have plenty of other dishes!
Thanks for the pleasant moment with all this blooming beauty, Pam. Happy Spring to you and Bruce.
Sarah you are so sweet! I always look forward to you joining us for Monday Morning Blooms and seeing your details and curated collections!
Oh my, Pam, I don’t know where to begin! Your snowball, I can’t even imagine. If you saw our snowball, you’d wonder if it’s even related! Mine is still sticks with the tiniest buds here in Southern California. But it survived, so Hope springs eternal that one day it will look like yours. It is truly magical, as is the spirea, and mixed with the cherry blossoms you have created pure magic. Your table setting is beautiful- but it is your flowers that are the star, which is as it should be on a blooms post. Thank you dear friend for giving us a floral treat this morning. Xo Lidy
Thank you Lidy for your sweet comments that warm my heart! Wishing you a lovely spring week❤️
Your flowers, as always, are spectacular! And I really love the Portmerion china with your lovely centerpiece. I can only imagine how lovely that viburnum is! Have a lovely time at your table!

What a beautiful setting & table laid for morning tea time Pam! I’m a Blue & White China gal too. In fact they’re my favourite everyday crockery ware as well as for the more formal occasions.
Your Spring garden is stunning as is your floral arrangement. I hope you & Butch had a lovely Easter weekend with the family.
Blessings sweet friend, Jennifer
Thank you Jennifer. It is wonderful that we share the love of blue and white! Your comments warm my heart my friend!
Blessings,
Pam
Pam, what a beautiful table you’ve set under the rose arbor. The flowers are magnificent and the snowball viburnum is stunning! I’m so happy that it, the kwanzan cherry, bridal wreath spirea, and lady bank’s roses all survived the frosts (we still have some snow here). The AC tablecloth is the perfect backdrop for the Spode Blue Room and Portmeirion botanic garden dishware. And, of course, the sweet little butterfly trinket box. The muffins look delicious and I hope that you enjoyed your coffee at your pretty table in the arbor shade. Happy Monday Morning Blooms to you!
Kim, I did enjoy my coffee under the arbor. It was a pleasant morning with a light breeze. I hope you see signs of spring soon my friend!
Oh Pam, those pictures are divine. The dappled sunlight playing against all the green perfectly captures an early spring. The blue and white pitcher is a treasure. It always amazes me how every color flower imaginable looks spectacular against blue and white! The weather here is delightful, and I keep wiping off pollen just to sit outside and enjoy it!
Thank you Roxanne! I enjoyed setting this small table for one and allowing the flowers to arrange themselves. Our pollen has almost run its course and that makes my allergies happy! Enjoy sitting outside in God’s beautiful creation dear one!
Always gorgeous Pam. I am playing catch up today after coming home from our family Easter in Michigan. Ahhhhh to see such beauty. Have a great week. Hugs. Kris
Thank you Kris! I know your Easter was wonderful with family!
I’m late to the party Pam but I have to comment, Spring blossoms are my favorite and you are the best at bringing them to our attention. The arrangement is beautiful, all of the blossoms remind me of my grandmothers garden. As a child I played under the spirea and was sure it was there to play “Here Comes the Bride”. Others have commented in the past that wisteria is not allowed on their property. But my grandmother had one on the side of her porch that she had trained to cover the west side to keep the hot sun from the porch and under the vine she had a large inground ice box. A truck brought large blocks of ice once a week from which she made ice cream for her grandchildren. Oh but I wander. Your posts do that to me Pam.
You are never late and it is always a blessing to hear from you our friend! Your grandmother must have been an amazing lady. I love to read your stories and am so pleased when you share them!
Pam, a delight for the eyes, your snowball viburnum and lady bank roses are gorgeous. So pretty taking in the beauty and fresh aroma. Love your jeweled butterfly. Blue and white china is always a classic. A beautiful table to enjoy a lovely spring day.
Thanks so much Linda! As a fellow gardener, you know there is a lot of work! But when we see blooms it is worth all the work!
This post is simply beautiful in a million ways! Those spring blooms are so wonderful. Best spring wishes to the two of you!
Mary, your comments are always encouraging! Best spring wishes to you!
I just knew that you would have an amazing tablescape to celebrate Easter and spring! So so lovely.

Absolutely gorgeous! I’m having serious garden envy here — my garden lags behind a bit.
Thank you Sandra! Happy Gardening!!
Oh, so beautiful! It’s hard to believe spring is here again! The pink and blue colors look so pretty together, and I just love the tablecloth. How neat that it represents April’s home! Happy Spring to you and your family, sweet friend!
Thank you Cheryl. Happy spring my friend!
If I could only visit your garden during one season, I would be hard pressed to choose which is my favorite. Your spring table is lovely.
How sweet of you to say Karen. As you know, it is a lot of hard work.
