Hello sweet readers and welcome to the June edition of Tea On Tuesdays!
“Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord, the people whom he has chosen as his heritage!”
Psalm 33:12 (ESV)
On July 4, 2026, our nation will commemorate and celebrate the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence. How will you celebrate? Will you be firing up the grill, making a freezer of home-made ice cream, attending your city’s fireworks show, or celebrating quietly at home?
Mary and I welcome back our sweet guest, Kitty from Kitty’s Kozy Kitchen! Our common theme is a patriotic teatime! You will find links for Mary and Kitty at the bottom of this post.
I was debating whether to serve hot tea or iced. It only took a brief moment to make a decision. Stepping outside and feeling the high humidity demanded sweet iced tea!
You will always find me setting tables in the garden during summer months. I love using our flag’s colors, the red, white, and blue for our patriotic holidays. The table was set with my granddaughters in mind. My plan was to photograph in the garden and then move the tea party inside the Sunshine Cottage due to predicted rain.
A tea party must have special treats, especially for EM and EK. They love grilled cheese sandwiches and so does PJ! Why not use a star cookie cutter with a tiny flag to celebrate?!
White ‘trellis’ Mikasa dinner plates, Spode Blue Room Collection ‘Tradition Series’ plates, and calico dessert plates provide the patriotic red, white, and blue! Adding whimsical red placemats and an April Cornell ‘picnic’ plaid seersucker table square for more summertime fun! In case you missed “America Is 250: Let’s Celebrate” click here!
There is nothing better on a hot, humid day than a glass of sweet iced tea with a sprig of mint! As a matter of fact, I am enjoying a glass now as I write. Southerners prefer Luzianne for the best iced tea !
Treats include red velvet cupcakes, crème filled sandwich cookies, and frosted sugar cookies served on a blue and white cake plate. When time is short, don’t forget you can buy rather than bake from scratch at home.
Maiden grass, chaste tree blooms, and sunflowers offer a colorful and summertime background!
“We on this continent should never forget that men first crossed the Atlantic not to find soil for their plough but to secure liberty for their souls.”
~Robert J. McCracken
One benefit of gardening’s hard work is to cut blooms for an arrangement…crape myrtle blooms, zinnias, sunflowers and blue cornflower make a charming arrangement in a blue striped pitcher!
We enjoy dressing the Sunshine Cottage porch in patriotic colors!
I am often asked about this fun stemware. I ordered 8 glasses from Horchow years ago and wished I had ordered more while they were available!
I couldn’t resist these cute sugar cookies for our tea party!
“My country, ‘Tis of Thee,
Sweet land of Liberty, of thee I sing;
Land where my fathers died
Land of the pilgrims’ pride,
From every mountain side
Let freedom ring.”
~ Words written by Samuel Francis Smith

Pam, Your table is so festive! I’ve long admired your seersucker tablecloth and the fun placemats and layered dishes with your sweet treats are the icing on the cake/cookie!😊 I love your pretty garden bouquet of crape myrtle blooms, zinnias and sunflowers in your striped pitcher. Your Sunshine Cottage porch looks so patriotic with the swags of bunting in the background. I know your grand girls enjoyed their sweet treats along with their cute star grilled cheese sandwiches. As always it’s a treat to join you for tea. Wishing you a wonderful week ahead! ❤️🤍💙
Thanks so much Mary! A grilled cheese sounds good to me anytime! ❤️🤍💙
Happy patritoic teatime, Pam! Celebrating any tablescape with you outdoors in your landscaoe is always a treat, but especially when proudly donning the red, white & blue. You are all decked out with fun treats, both savory (grilled cheese, yes, please) and sweet (tea, of course!). I love how your girls (and boys) have come to know the traditions of teatime, setting beautiful tables, and honoring the values on which this nation was born – God and family.
Thank you, Rita. Butch and I also love grilled cheese sandwiches, I might have to have one tonight. The girls and Wyatt love any reason to have a party. I am sure Daniel will be joining all the festivities soon!
So pretty! Where did you find the red beaded placemats??
Thank you, Janis. The placemats were found at TJ Maxx many years ago. I also have a set in yellow. Have a wonderful day!
Beautiful table for the celebration of our nation, Pam! Those treats look yummy too!
Thanks so much, Carole!
What a beautiful patriotic tea you’ve set with your sweet grands in mind, Pam. How thoughtful to make their favorite grilled cheese in a star shape with a flag on top. Your treats look perfect for them or anyone who stops by. Your lovely tablecloth and your gorgeous, from your very own garden flowers, set the stage for a most wonderful 250th birthday celebration. The speckled stemware are indeed just ready for your iced tea to be served. Thank you for inviting me to share in the joy of a patriotic tea party. You and Mary are my tea party inspirational role models and blessings. 🫖❤️🇺🇸💙🫖
Thank you Kitty for your sweet comments ❤️🤍💙
Here I am sipping sweet tea in your garden while I sit at your beautiful patriotic tea table. To be surrounded by beauty is absolutely a delight this morning. Your seersucker tablecloth is darling along with those beaded placemats. I love the red, white, and blue plate stack. It’s all so beautiful. Thank you for having me today. I enjoyed myself immensely.
❤️🤍💙
I am happy you joined me for a glass of iced sweet tea, the table wine of the South! Thank you Nancy!
I love this so much. It’s the softer, kinder side of America that I love. Where people slow down and enjoy being together. It’s absolutely lovely.
You are so sweet, Leslie Anne and thank you!
Love love it all. So beautiful for the 4th of July. Hugs. Kris
Thank you, Kris!
What a fun table. I love the tablecloth. And those cookies look to die for! Everything is so pretty. And my fave sandwich! I love it, Pam.
Thank you Jeanie! The cookies were delicious!
Your garden is beautiful Pam, looking at your patriotic tea table this morning I couldn’t help but see the surrounding goodies such as the zinnias in the background. The quote by Robert McCracken is so simple and pure. I so wish the American public would put aside political things for our need for simple love of mankind and country. Your tea table is just right for a summer day. Why ice tea only fits on a hot summer day. Your grandchildren are being taught the love of our nation and the love of Lord all ay once. Have a “grand” tea. ”
Thank you dearest Alice. Your thoughts are so sweet and meaningful!
Pam,
Just beautiful!! As is your garden!! Love it all!! Thanks for sharing!!
Hugs,
Deb

Thanks so much, Deb!
Pam, such a pretty table worthy of the 250th celebration of our country. The striped pitcher is lovely with crape myrtle blooms, zinnias and sunflowers. Your seersucker tablecloth looks so pretty. Love the festive glasses from Horchow. Sweet tea sounds perfect for a hot summer day. Your grands will surely love sitting at this table with their favorite sandwiches. ❤️🤍💙
Thank you Linda for your sweet comments ❤️🤍💙
Such a pretty, festive table. I love the small red plates. Happy 4th.
Thanks so much Lauren!
What a perfect setting for your tea time Pam…your gardens are so pretty any time of the year and make for a perfect backdrop to your lovely table that I know the girls loved. (anything with their PJ is built with love right in it). The Sunshine Cottage decor is so patriotic as a different angled camera view…and makes the table so inviting. I have to admit that being from Kansas the sunflowers always catch my eye, and your blue striped pitcher captures them beautifully, along with the pretty crepe myrtle and a zinnia or two. You made me realize that I should have used my purple crepe myrtle in my ‘lilac’ bouquet tablescape last week…because I always call them my pretend lilacs since they resemble lilacs and are the purple variety. (Sigh, oh well.🥰). The picnic AC tablecloth lives up to its name and I agree, store bought fills in nicely when time is of the essence. BTW, I have learned to drink sweet tea now that I live so far South in SW Florida and considered a Southerner. In the Midwest, we drank unsweet tea. LOL!! LOVE your picturesque tea time. Have a Blessed and wonderful day.🤗🇺🇸🧚🏻🌸
Thank you sweet Kari! You officially became a Southerner if you drink sweet tea! Kari, the sunflowers are so tall, Butch will have to stand on a ladder to cut their big blooms! I love a purple crepe myrtle. All of ours are pink and white! Enjoy your week❤️🤍💙
Breathtaking Patriotic tablescape!!! Such beauty and inspiration… Wonderful flowers! Happy forth, dear Pam. God bless America.
You are so sweet and thank you Maristella!
Pam, as always, I’m delighted to sit at your table. Ice tea for me please! It’s definitely warmed up here again. Love seeing the bunting on the cottage and all the red, white, and blue. I’m in full patriotic mode here. I love the summer holidays. I’ll be setting another table soon in honor of the 4th. What a year! Happy 250th America!
Sarah, it is so sweet for you to join me for iced tea! I know you are in full patriotic mode! 🇺🇸❤️🤍💙🇺🇸
Oh my goodness gracious Pam, what a wonderful patriotic tea❣️ Your quotes and scripture I hope to share at our upcoming patriotic table. Your beautiful Maiden Grass made me think of fireworks in the sky!! What a feast for the eyes with so many lovelies on your table, what a sweet tablecloth and pretty patterned plates, oh gosh…those cutie patooty placemats and yummy snacks to share with your charming grands…one could feel the joy of a tea party! Your garden and Sunshine Cottage are especially stunning this time of year. Your sweet tea pitcher and the blue and and white cakestand are soooo pretty, and your blue striped pitcher with flowers from your garden…sigh. Thank you Pam, this was so fun❣️
Sue, your sweet comments are heartwarming! I am so happy you had fun here❤️🤍💙
I love your festive patriotic tea table, Pam. I know the girls enjoyed the treats and iced tea. Your sunflowers and zinnias are all so healthy! Your striped pitcher is the perfect vessel for your bouquet. I’m searching for certain large blue and white pieces currently so I’m enjoying seeing your beautiful footed cake plate too! We hope you and your family have a wonderful 4th! I’m certain the children will be enjoying fireworks and sparklers. Will you be making homemade ice cream? It’s going to be a scorcher! Clara❤️
Thank you Clara! We will have our traditional 4th of July meal with homemade ice cream! Our temps have been hot as I am sure you are experiencing the same! My girls loved all the treats🇺🇸❤️🤍💙🇺🇸
Pam, it looks phenomenal! I don’t know what is more lovely, the table or your beautiful yard. I keep enlarging pictures to get a look at all of the flowers. I had to chuckle about your stemware comment. I, too, saw those in the Horchow catalogue, loved them, but for some reason let them go.
Pattie, thank you so much. Our garden is hard work, but we do enjoy the return!
Oh, how pretty! And it’s always such a blessing to see Kitty’s blog featured here!
Thanks so much, Cheryl!
Wow, every little patriotic detail is so wonderfully celebratory! How will we celebrate this year? Well, my hubby and I get to celebrate our 50th wedding anniversary alongside our country’s 250th. We were married on July 3, 1976–the year of the bicentennial. We opted not to go with the red, white & blue theme so popular that year (did the pastel colors of the rainbow instead), but definitely enjoyed the amazing fireworks displayed in the community that weekend–and every anniversary since then.
Happy upcoming 50th wedding anniversary! I don’t blame you for a pastel wedding! Thank you, Cindie!
I so enjoy your post Pam. Your talent is impeccable.. Happy 4th of July!!
You are so sweet, Gina. Thank you dear one!
I love the way you used that tray-on-legs to add a bit of height to the pitcher of flowers–another one of your clever ideas, Pam, that I may have to borrow! Also find the addition of sunflowers the perfect counterpoint to the predominant red, white, and blue. No doubt your granddaughters (and PJ) will enjoy those treats–pretty as well as delicious!
Thank you, Nancy. I appreciate your visit and sweet comments!
Love this Pam. It’s such a fun & festive table. It immediately makes you smile. What a delight it would be to sit there and enjoy all the treats and beautiful setting. Your garden is always so on point! Have a fabulous weekend. XO- MaryJo
MaryJo, you are so sweet! Thank you for your lovely visit and Happy Weekend to you!🥰
With most of the country sweltering, your choice of ice tea is certainly the right choice. Absolutely love your table against the background of the Sunshine Cottage porch decked out with the patriotic swags of bunting. The combination of the flowers, the treats and the place settings are perfect for tea with the grands. .
Thank you Karen! Yes, the temperature definitely demanded iced tea!
What a stunning tea party! I love everything about it. I can’t wait to celebrate America 250 next week! I’ve also been praying 2 Chronicles 7:14 for our country. Happy Independence Day!
Thank you Ricki Jill. I am also praying this verse for our country!
This is the absolute sweetest table setting ever! It warms my heart just looking at all of the pictures.
How fun to sip sweet tea, make memories, and celebrate the land of the free with your favorite little patriots!!!
Yes, it is great fun! Thank you Mary.
