It is Monday Morning Blooms with my friend Lidy. Mary wasn’t able to join us today and she is certainly missed. You will find Lidy’s link at the bottom of this post.
Our common theme is “Fall” with a nod to one of fall’s most delicious fruits…apples! There are no apple orchards nearby so my harvest was picked at the grocery store…Honeycrisp, Golden Delicious, and Red Delicious.
Our picnic table sits next to our woodland area. It is shady and provides a little relief from the blistering sun.
Rather than a vase, I revisited an idea from the past, using four copper mugs to hold an assortment of flowers. The heat and little rain has wreaked havoc on my flowers. I managed to cut a few zinnias and Autumn Fire sedum from the cottage garden. Beautiful dahlias, mini zinnias, and celosia came from my friend at Deep Roots Flower Farm. This is one of the easiest ways to arrange a little group of flowers, no experience necessary!
This plaid tablecloth is a mainstay for my fall tablescapes. I have no idea where it came from, but it is easy to launder and requires little ironing, which is a win-win!
Honeycrisp is one of my favorites! It is exceptionally crisp, juicy, with a balanced sweet-tart taste. Farmers often call Honeycrisp apples an absolute “diva” because they are fragile, expensive, and incredibly difficult to grow, harvest, and store. I only know they make a delicious snack with sharp cheddar cheese!
Using my charcuterie board as the base for the centerpiece, I assembled the copper mugs of flowers and candles placed in round hammered brass holders as a runner. Did you notice I mixed copper and brass together? Mixing metals is perfectly ok with me, it creates more interest! The charcuterie board was handcrafted from Old European barn wood and was found in the gift shop at Blackberry Farm many years ago.
I can’t help but think of my beloved Mother’s apple cobblers, fried apple pies, and moist apple cake! What is your favorite dessert made with apples?
I have many wonderful memories of the picnic table that sat in the backyard of my childhood home. All of the neighborhood kids would gather round while my Mother would bring out drinks and snacks during those long summers of childhood. My brother and I also used it as a ping-pong table. It was smaller than a regular sized ping-pong table. For that reason, we became hard to beat on the regular sized table.
Vintage scalloped ‘Harvest Time’ dinner and salad plates by Johnson Brothers feature a brown multi-color fruit and leaves pattern. I have six place settings, found for a very reasonable price in a local antique mall.
The vintage cinnamon-colored napkins and placemats were chosen to complement the tablecloth. I discovered them in the back of an antique shop in Highlands, NC. The handcrafted wooden napkin rings were found in Kentucky when I was traveling with Butch on a business trip! I find joy in purchasing small items from places where we travel. That helps me recall the time, place and the memory!
Old leather books add warmth and character to any table. They are ideal to display a small item such as an apple!
Rattan chargers provide more rustic texture and the vintage Fostoria ‘Jamestown Brown’ ice tea glassware add another memory to the table!

You reminded me there are apple fritters in my freezer that I made from the honeycrisp apples we bought from the local orchard, I just might have to get some out for later! You set such beautiful tables.

Oh, how lovely! Pam, I am enjoying the copper colors and rustic feel of this table. The charcuterie board adds that rustic feel, and the zinnias and dahlias in the copper mugs add gorgeous color. What loveliness!

My favorite apple dessert is my apple crisp. I too enjoy Honeycrisp apples. I did come upon a new apple that I also enjoy… Cosmic Crisp. I hope you can try it.

The placemats and napkins are just the right touch to layer another rich fall color on your table.

I’m with Butch. I also want Mother Nature to resist the forces that imply it’s time to quit. FALL is the perfect word for Autumn, the poor trees need water. There leaves fall off before turning. And they have been falling since the end of June. The honey crisp apple is my favorite apple. Thank you for sharing that they are divas. Makes me love them more! Good morning, sweet Pam! A very rainy start to our Labor Day and huge temperature drop, but I am not complaining one bit. Your beautiful table is shouting Fall is coming! Every single element is perfection. I have a new found love for copper in my fall decor ever since I inherited some beautiful copper vessels from my MIL. She picked up so many beautiful things during the family’s Navy tours in Morocco and Japan. (I was so blessed to have the world’s best MIL; she had 4 sons but told everyone I was her favorite child! 💕).
