I was out well before sunrise one morning and waited, and then waited some more, until finally the sun found a peep hole. I almost headed back to the house for a bit of breakfast, but decided to be patient and see what might happen. It turned out to be a good choice. A rainbow and a promise might pop up in a place and at a time when least expected. Our skies have been filled with rainbows over the last few weeks and it is always a great experience to see one. This short bow gave us a surprise appearance and seemed to be across a clear sky, but no doubt there was moisture somewhere!READ MORE

The content of today’s post is up in the air…that is, mostly about things that fly, or possibly find their home in the clouds or the heavens. Some, like this Eastern tiger swallowtail however, spend a lot of their time sitting around on things that are tasty. At first we thought flowers were showing through the right wing, but a closer look reveals some parts missing from both wings! READ MORE
