Blessings to you on this Palm Sunday, 2026! Saturday morning was a cool, breezy 40 degrees after a dry front had passed through late Friday. A big change was felt as the high temp yesterday was about 20 degrees cooler than Friday. I wasn’t dressed quite as well as needed while I waited on the sunrise, but stuck it out! Welcome  Spring

Spring officially arrived on Friday and it was a wonderful day here in the foothills of NE Alabama. After a roller coaster week of weather, this first weekend of spring is warm and dry. We usually get a cold snap or two in April, but for now it appears the bridal wreath spirea will recover from an unusual week (coming up later in the post). ‘Beware the Ides of March’ may have been a phrase that worked well for Mr. Shakespeare’s soothsayer who warned Julius Caesar in 44BC,  but I hope that today will not be a day where such a warning is necessary. A good thing about today (one of many such things) is that Daylight time allows a little more sleep before having to get moving in order to take in a mid-March sunrise!READ MORE
