“For the word of the cross is folly to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God”
1 Corinthians 1:18
As a follower of Jesus, Easter signifies more than just pastels, cute bunnies and plastic eggs. While those things are sweet and fun, (and I love to use them) there is much more to celebrate as we look to the event that all of history hinges on-the resurrection of Jesus Christ! The days leading up to this death were ones of sorrow, grief, and agony. But, there is good news-the best news-He is not dead, He is alive and he has defeated death! Easter is a day that we gather as a family and fellowship around the table in our home!I chose a rustic cross as the centerpiece for this most
important celebration!
Butch has planted the rye grass in these small tins for many years.
Their pastel shades remind me of dyeing Easter eggs with my
Mother as a little girl!
The cross is a new addition to my Easter collection! So simple,
yet says so much! You have seen the creamy white china (charger, dinner plate,
cup and saucer) on Tablescape Tuesday quite often! It is
“baroque” pattern by American Atelier.
The bright green grass that was planted only ten days ago
symbolizes new life!
“Therefore we have been buried with Him through baptism
into death, so that as Christ was raised from the dead through
the glory of the Father, so we too might walk in newness
of life”
Romans 6:4
The embellished fabric eggs were placed in the cups at each place
setting. Pretty pastels!
The tablecloth is a blue paisley print that provides a soft background!
A simple and sweet setting!
Small eggs were tucked into the grass. I think we are going to have to
give the grass a haircut! Two pairs of candle stands add height to the table and ambiance
when the candles are lit!
The napkins are one of my “go-to’s” and the napkin rings
made by my friend, Joann have made another appearance
on Tablescape Tuesday!
I am reminded of the old, rich hymn, the Old Rugged Cross
“…and I’ll cherish the Old Rugged Cross,
till my trophies at lat I lay down…
…I will cling to the Old Rugged Cross, and exchange it
someday for a crown!…”May we celebrate our risen Lord, not only on Easter, but everyday!
“A word fitly spoken is like apples of gold in a setting of silver”
Proverbs 25:11
