Welcome sweet friends. Happy Labor Day and September! I hope you all are enjoying this extended weekend!
“While the earth remains, seedtime and harvest, cold and heat, summer and winter, day and night, shall not cease.””
Genesis 8:22 (ESV)
It is also the first day of meteorological fall and my favorite season!
It is the September edition of Monday Morning Blooms with my friends, Mary and Lidy. We are excited to welcome back Jennifer, from Celebrating Everyday Life, as our special guest.
You will find the links for my friends’ beautiful floral and tabletop inspiration at the bottom of this post.
Dahlias are in full bloom at Deep Roots Flower Farm and a morning visit provided all of these stunning blooms. In my opinion, when dahlias are available, there is no need to add any other flowers! I enjoy bringing out the hammered copper pitcher for the fall season!
Our theme for September is Autumn Bounty. In our Appalachian Foothills we are seeing a few signs of Autumn…shorter days, cooler nights, lower humidity, and bluer skies!
An April Cornell ‘Meridian’ tablecloth and napkins were the inspiration for my table! Apples are naturally part of September’s harvest and they were placed on a wood slice charger surrounding the dahlias.
“Autumn seemed to arrive suddenly that year. The morning of the first of September was crisp as an apple.”
~J.K. Rowling
Fostoria ‘Jamestown’ goblets were the ideal complement for my tabletop!
Vintage ‘Harvest Time’ by Johnson Brothers brown multi-colored fruit and leaves pattern is a favorite for my autumn tables. The scalloped dinner plate and square salad plate rest upon a green majolica plate with a faux leather charger. Copper flatware was chosen to highlight the copper pitcher.
“Breaking free from the grips of a lingering summer, and gaining freedom to embrace an anxious autumn, requires a September.”
~Butch Richardson
Adagio maiden grass with its feathery plumes lends itself as a great background for an autumn table!
With our hot summers, our garden is waning. The two large crape myrtles in front of RM’s workshop that were in full bloom three weeks ago have now lost most of their leaves!
Zinnias and giant marigolds continue to bloom in our cottage garden!
I don’t think I have ever seen a dahlia that I didn’t love!
The ‘Coral Bark’ Maple tree (next to table) will not begin to turn to its beautiful shades of orange and gold until late October! We typically don’t see autumn colors until late October and the best show is November!

Happy Labor Day and beautiful Dahlias Pam! How fun and fortunate you are to have your friend’s flower farm to select blooms from! Your copper pitcher provides a perfect vase for your Dahlias on your lovely table and I love seeing your zinnias and marigolds blooming in the background! ‘Harvest Time’ by Johnson Brothers holds a special place in my heart as it was my grandmother’s pattern. It’s set off perfectly paired with your pretty April Cornell ‘Meridian’ linens and green and brown accents from your majolica plate and leather charger. I hope you’re still enjoying some cooler temps and lower humidity like we are for the next few days. As always, it’s a treat to share some flower therapy with you. Happy September🍂🍎🧡
Thank you, Mary! It is helpful to have the flower farms since we don’t have a Trader Joe’s. Our temps are nice, but we need rain. See you in the morning!
Truly lovely tablescape, and apples are the perfect transition into fall. I use them here as well, looking forward to cooler days and nights.
Thank you, Carole! Yes, cooler days and nights!
Oh no, the crêpe myrtle doesn’t look happy. Probably heat related. Hope they come back next year. September used to mean returning to school but now the children return in August. Happy memories for sure.
Heat and lack of rain for the two crepe myrtles! Thank you sweet, Alice!
Your dear soulmate, Bruce, sure shares the best quotes, doesn’t he?! Oh how I love your dahlia centerpiece in your copper pitcher, Pam. Your grassy backdrop and then your zinnia/marigold one are both so stunning. I love your JB Harvest pattern, of which I have one teacup. The green tablecloth sets the whole table off so perfectly. Thank you for the beauty on this Labor Day!
Thank you for your sweet comments, Kitty. I hope you are having a lovely Labor Day!
Your table is so beautiful Pam! The green in the tablecloth and napkins and all the sweet charming apple dishes and then the copper accents WITH those stunning dahlias have captured exactly how it is feeling here…and of course Butch’s perfect way of articulating September…
We are enjoying crisp morning air in the mornings now…as your beautiful shared scripture and quotes remind us.
Thank you for such a🍎 beautiful post🌼, Pam!
Thank you, Sue. I know you are seeing and feeling signs of fall. Wishing you a joy-filled week!
Beautiful
Thank you, Colleen!
Pam, The creamy dahlias are beautiful in your hammered copper pitcher. Your tablecloth and napkins are perfectly paired with your plates and centerpiece. I’m ready for fall! Enjoy your Labor Day! Clara❤️
Thanks so much, Clara! I hope you have had a good day❤️
Happy September and Labor Day, Pam! Your bouquet of Dahlias in the copper pot is gorgeous. I adore Dahlias, and I agree with you….they don’t need any other flowers to accompany them. Your tablescape is beautiful, and the AC tablecloth with its rich color palette is so pretty. Everything looks just beautiful, and Butch’s quote is perfect. Wishing you a wonderful day and week ahead, my sweet friend!
Thank you, Shannon. I look forward to hopping with you tomorrow. I hope your day has been a pleasant one!
Happy Labor Day. Hard to believe Summer is over and Fall is beginning. The copper pot with the Dahlias is gorgeous. Have a wonderful new week. Hugs. Kris
Thank you, Kris. Hope your week is wonderful!
Happy Labor Day Pam! What a blessing to be able to go visit your friend’s flower farm to select flowers from…these are stunning. Your copper pitcher is the perfect vase to show off the Dahlias on your autumn table. What a pretty April Cornell tablecloth, just right to compliment your dishes and other table accents. As always, it’s a blessing to share Monday Morning Blooms and flower therapy with together. Happy September, Xo 🍎🍎🍎Lidy
Thanks so much, Lidy. Having a couple of flower farms available is certainly helpful! Happy September to you 🍎
Your hammered copper pitcher is gorgeous Pam, and it makes such a beautiful centerpiece full of Dahlias and surrounded by leaves and apples. The table with the soft green AC cloth, apple plates, and the brown stemware says “Welcome Fall!” I love Butch’s quote about September 💕
Thanks so much, Jenna. I love setting a table during the “ber” months!
Oh, I must agree with you that dahlias can stand alone so beautifully! And I also agree with Butch’s quote. September is very welcome here right now. With almost no rain in August, I’m surprised our crepe myrtle isn’t bare, but lo and behold, it not only has its leaves, but still has colorful blooms! My dahlias are going strong too, but several plants are looking iron-deficient. Your Harvest Time china is so pretty, Pam, and I love how you layered it on the chargers and green majolica. Beautiful choice of linens for this early fall look, too. Happy Monday Morning Blooms, and Happy September!
Thank you, Rita! It is strange but our 35 year old crepe myrtles are blooming beautifully. The two in our garden were in beautiful bloom a couple of weeks ago. We desperately need rain. Our zoysia grass inside our garden is turning brown. Watering doesn’t get the job done like a good soaking rain. At least, our temps are down!
Beautiful Dahlias and that copper pitcher sets them off! Lovely table and thanks for sharing.
Thank you, Catherine!
Oh Pam, your dahlia arrangement is absolutely swoon-worthy! I planted five dahlias in temporary containers this year while waiting on my raised beds, and they gave me the sweetest blooms—I’m already dreaming of adding more next season. You’re so right, they’re such an extraordinary flower! The way you’ve blended colors here is pure magic, and your yard…every angle is stunning. And that April Cornell linen? On my wishlist immediately—I’m smitten with that shade! Thank you for the joy of blooming alongside you this month—it has been such a gift. Sending big hugs~ Jennifer
Jennifer, I tried growing dahlias, but I didn’t have much success. I hope you will, they truly are a gorgeous flower in so many beautiful colors. Thank you. dear one!
Pam, your copper pitcher is a beautiful compliment to all those dahlia blooms. They are truly spectacular! Your table says “Hello September!”. The crepe myrtles here are still going strong. Driving around town, a friend and I talked about this has been of the prettiest summer for them. I know we are probably having False Fall right now, but I sure am enjoying these cool mornings! Hope you and Butch have a lovely week.
Thank you, my dear. I am loving the cooler temps. Wish I could join you for coffee on your porch on one of these nice mornings!
So pretty Pam, I love the copper pitcher with the lovely dahlias….I love this flower too. It is still pretty warm down here in Florida, but September promises cooler temps. I think your garden still looks great, but I do understand the effects of extreme heat. I especially like Butch’s famous quotes. Happy September my friend.
Happy September, Kari! Thank you, my friend! I will see you in the morning on the hop!!
Happy September, Pam! Hope you have enjoyed a relaxing Labor Day Weekend. Your dahlia are stunning. I’ve never grown them, but they are truly one of my favorite cut flowers. I’m always amazed how huge the blooms can be.
Your Harvest Time china table is lovely. The plate stack atop the green majolica plate and faux leather charger really sets the stage. I don’t have any copper flatware, and yours makes a beautiful statement, expecially with the copper pitcher filled with dahlias. .
Thank you, Sarah. Your sweet comments warm my heart!
A lovely table to welcome September Pam. The copper pitcher is so striking filled with gorgeous dahlias. Love Your plate stack with the Harvest Time china, and majolica plate. Adding the apples is a nice touch. Happy September.
Thanks so much, Linda! Wishing you a wonderful week!
I’m so inspired by your centerpieces – nature’s artistry at its finest!
Mary, that comment is heartwarming! Thank you!
Your sweet comments are so encouraging!
SO pretty! This cooler weather sure is inspirational – and your post is truly pin-worthy!
Thank you, Michele for your sweet comments!
I somehow missed this post earlier Pam – my apologies. Those dahlias are just stunning with all the different colors and the copper vase is just perfect for them! I love the more subtle colored AC tablecloth and napkins and how the colors accent everything else on the table. It looks beautiful with the Johnson Brother’s vintage Harvest Time plates, the brown leather placemats, the goblets, and the green majolica. The maple tree and Adagio maiden grass in the background is so pretty. I’m sorry to hear about the crepe myrtles and I hope they come back next year. Wishing you a wonderful rest of the week!
As always, thanks so much Kim! Happy Friday!
Oh, so beautiful! I love the pitcher you used for your flower arrangement, and the flowers are just gorgeous! I have never seen one that I didn’t love, either. But, of course, I feel the same about every flower! They are such demonstrations of God’s love for us. To think that He would place such fragile beauty in the world, just for our enjoyment. He is such a loving God. In the words of Chris Tomlin, He’s a “good, good Father.” May He continue to rain blessings on you and your family!
