“The Lord your God is in your midst, a mighty one who will save;
he will rejoice over you with gladness;
he will quiet you by his love;
he will exult over you with loud singing”
Zephaniah 3:17
Our family loves to celebrate birthdays-a tradition started by my precious Mother! Last night we came together to celebrate Katy’s ?? year! The Lord brought Katy into my life and into our family a little over two years ago. I never dreamed our first conversation over a cup of coffee would develop into such a strong bond of love! She contributes so much to what you see and read here on the blog! I am beyond blessed that she is a major part of my everyday living!
No party is complete unless there is good food! Butch grilled burgers (one of Katy’s faves) and I added side dishes! I always ask the one we are celebrating to pick what dessert they would like for me to make! Katy and I share a real fondness for the coconut-pecan cake from Chez Fonfon in Birmingham, and just so happened that Frank Stitt shared the recipe in a holiday magazine! Even if I say so myself, the cake was almost as good as Mr. Stitt’s! (Everyone else agreed!)
Happiest of birthdays, Katy!
I know it is still winter, but I wanted a cheery
and fun table for our party!

A Birthday Celebration!
A Very Merry Birthday!
The table runner is a pastel blue with small dots. I chose not to use a tablecloth or place mats for this setting!
When I think of a happy flower, I always think tulips!
The Wedgwood pitcher is a recent purchase from our downtown antique mall. Its soft color was a great addition!
The birthday girl’s place card!
Mikasa’s “Fruit Rapture” pattern always makes for a colorful table. The white charger is my go-to “Baroque” pattern by American Atelier. The flatware is our everyday stainless by Reed and Barton, a yellow cotton napkin completes each setting!
The centerpiece is a scalloped bowl full of Granny Smith apples sitting on a polka-dot round platter!
The stemware is “Reverie” by Noritake. I added a small pink and white floral pitcher by Churchhill!
The pair of candle stands are a match to the bowl. I think I bought these at Tuesday Morning.
As you know by now, I love color! Can you tell??
I shot the photos on Sunday which was a cloudy and dreary day. Was hoping for bright sunshine to complement our party table!
Do you all think Katy will like her “Happy Birthday” table?!
Coconut Pecan Cake- it was a hit!
