Tablescape Tuesday: Come As You Are

This past weekend was a really busy, yet enjoyable one spent with our friends and family. Apparently I was so busy, I nearly forgot about my tablescape that I post every Tuesday until yesterday morning! But sometimes, it’s just good to relax and let things be low-key…wouldn’t you agree? After all, relationships are what bring us around the table in the first place!

Since I didn’t have any anything in mind for a tablescape…no fresh flowers, and no fruit for the centerpiece, I kept calm and shopped my house! Most of us have plenty of stuff without spending a dime to make a pretty table setting. We just have to think outside the box and get started! For this table, I pulled out the beautiful blue/gray scarf for the table runner and the rest just fell into place…and I love it!

In the same way that Christ has invited us to his wedding feast, I hope this table will invite you to pull up a seat and come as you are!

I set the dining room table for four!

The scarf provided the color and I like the pop of blue with all the creamy whites!

The rustic wood bark napkin rings give texture, which I am a fan!

The soup tureen matches the plates and chargers and I often use it as a centerpiece!

A pair of turned upside down sundae glasses hold pillar candles!

I always enjoy using the birch bark containers and filling them with random cuttings from our yard! Easy to do!

Tablescape Tuesday: Downton Abbey Style

I know how wildly popular the British period drama Downton Abbey has been and Sunday night began its sixth and final season! I haven’t watched a single episode, but before you throw your English tea cups, I do plan on buying the entire series to sit down at my leisure and watch! No one sets a more formal and proper table than the British aristocracy with their heirloom china, crystal, and sterling!

However, my dear friend Patti, with her beautiful collection of table ware, can run a close second! For many years, she and her husband have hosted Thanksgiving dinner, with a grand total of 60 family members attending this year. Being the fabulous hostess she is, each table is always set with linens, fine china…the whole works! While visiting her, we had the best time setting a formal “Downton Abbey” styled table!

The “chair” place card holders have to be the most unique that I have ever seen! I love them!

The water goblet and the iced beverage is “Araglin” by Waterford. This pattern is characterized by diamond and vertical wedge cuts. I visited the House of Waterford last summer while in Ireland and watched a demonstration of how the beautiful crystal is made! You can see more here.

The flatware consists of several patterns! I love mixing it up…even on a formal table!

When we started blogging almost 18 months ago, we had no idea what we were getting into. All I knew was that we wanted to share our everyday living with you through the things we love! I knew that probably meant tablescapes, the occasional travel post, and maybe a music post here and there. The next thing I knew, I was blogging four times a week, meeting new blogging friends, and I had found a creative outlet that would become both my new favorite hobby and a journal of sorts for me and my family!

Last week, I shared the Top 5 Tablescapes of 2015 and The Top Ten Posts of 2015, and there is no doubt that my love for creating warm and inviting spaces in our home is one of the main themes here at Everyday Living. But, my favorites are those that might not receive the most views or comments…they are the stories and pictures that are dearest to my heart! They are the ones that are linked to the sweetest memories, the story of how the post evolved, and the ones that remind me of the goodness of God in our everyday living.
